The UAE announces start issuing the UAE passport with a validity of 10 years

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship and Customs in the United Arab Emirates stated that the issuance of the new Emirati passport will officially begin for those aged 21 years and above, starting on Monday, July 8, 2024.

New Emirati passport issuance service

The Authority confirmed in an official statement that the new service for issuing the Emirati passport aims to provide comfort and decent living for the people of the Emirates by providing smart, proactive services that meet the aspirations of citizens.

The new service also contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens, by developing the passport issuance service and ensuring systems compatibility.

The UAE passport has a validity period of 10 years

It is also worth noting that this new service is part of the Authority’s strategic goals approved during the period 2023-2026, especially the seventh goal, which stipulates the development of an advanced, proactive system for the affairs of citizens and foreigners.

Through this service, the Authority is committed to achieving the best experience for customers applying for its services through all its channels, in order to achieve a seamless, integrated digital government experience, an innovative model of partnership, to achieve the effectiveness and efficiency of services and raise customer happiness.”

Providing citizens with the opportunity to move and travel freely and comfortably

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security in the United Arab Emirates also aims to provide them with the opportunity to move and travel freely and comfortably, and to improve the quality of society’s life in a sustainable manner.

It should be noted that the new service for issuing the new Emirati passport generally shortens the customer’s journey in terms of procedures and time by approximately half, from two trips to one trip every 10 years, which supports the program of zeroing out government bureaucracy and saves time and effort for customers.

Issuing an Emirati passport for a period of 5 years for younger age groups

The Authority pointed out that the issuance of the passport is scheduled to continue for a period of 5 years for age groups under 21 years, explaining that the new passports will be issued with the same procedures, standards and controls currently in effect and with the same service provision channels.

Explaining that Emirati citizens residing abroad can also apply for the new service for those who have valid passports when the current passports expire, citizens residing abroad also have the right to apply for the service if the validity period of their passports expires in accordance with the controls and standards approved in this regard.

Citizens residing abroad can apply for the new service to issue a new Emirati passport, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the new service. Apply for the service through the service delivery channels approved by the Authority.

The new generation of the new Emirati passport

It is also worth noting that the new generation of the Emirati passport was issued by the Authority as part of the final phase of the project to develop the new generation of passports and identity cards, which was launched in June 2021.

Through the desire of the UAE government to achieve the strategic objectives of the Authority, and within the path of enhancing national objectives and providing them with international competitiveness, keeping pace with the latest technologies in the field of issuing passports, and providing innovative services for identifying personal identity.

Advantages of the new Emirati passport

It is worth noting that the new Emirati passport comes with many unprecedented advantages and technical characteristics, in addition to very complex security specifications, to limit attempts at counterfeiting or counterfeiting. It also features the holder’s identification page being printed using “polycarbonate” instead of paper.

The new Emirati passport also includes specialized printing supported by photos and security marks that are not visible to the naked eye, especially as they are thick, which prevents the possibility of damaging them, in addition to being easy to process using readers at the ports.

The new Emirati passport is unique in its high quality and speed when printed using laser technology and three-dimensional tactile elements.

Raising security standards for the new Emirati passport

Among the characteristics and advantages of the new Emirati passport is raising Islamic standards, which enhances the Authority’s tireless efforts to achieve various security and safety requirements when moving or crossing through international travel points, and supporting the diplomatic efforts of the UAE, which has succeeded in highlighting the strength of the Emirati passport over the years. past, making it the strongest passport in the world.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security in the United Arab Emirates confirmed that passport holders must verify the validity of their documents no less than six months before they head to travel, while they can issue passports while they are abroad, through the country’s embassies and consulates.
