Just 17 days after introducing its iPhone 15 series at the "Wonderlust" event in Cupertino, California, Apple has released iOS 17.
Apple announces iOS 17 New Features
Numerous new features that aim to improve the user experience are introduced by this revised operating system.
1. StandBy Feature
One notable addition is the StandBy feature, which allows users to view glanceable information while their iPhone is charging. When the device is connected to a charger, it displays various information on a full screen.
This information can include photos, clock displays in different styles, weather forecasts, widgets, music playback details, the progress of food deliveries, and even game scores, among other things. To activate this feature, users simply need to turn their iPhone to its side while it's charging, and the device will start showing the selected information.
2. Live Voicemail Transcription
iOS 17 introduces the Live Voicemail feature, which offers real-time transcription of voicemail messages. When someone leaves a voicemail, the system transcribes it, allowing users to read the message's content and decide whether to return the call or not. Apple has stated that spam calls will not be transcribed and will be automatically declined.
3. Personal Voice
"Personal Voice" is another noteworthy addition to iOS 17's features. This function is intended to help people who are disabled or at risk of losing their voice. Users can choose "Create a Personal Voice" from the settings menu to access this accessibility option. Users of the iPhone will be asked to record their voice, and that recording will be saved. In addition to reading aloud lines in the user's voice on the iPhone, users can use this recorded voice to connect with others, providing a more individualized and inclusive experience.
4. Offline Maps
iOS 17 now enables iPhone users to download maps for offline use. With this feature, users can save specific areas of a map directly to their iPhone, allowing them to access directions even without an internet connection. This functionality is particularly useful when traveling to remote areas with weak or unstable network coverage.
5. Contact Posters
Additionally, Apple has introduced a feature that allows users to customize what others see when they receive a call. Users can create personalized contact posters that appear on the recipient's display screen when they receive a call. These posters can feature a user's photo or memoji, adding a personal touch to their calls.
These new features in iOS 17 demonstrate Apple's commitment to enhancing the user experience and providing innovative solutions for various user needs, from convenience to accessibility.
