A Canadian province has altered some regulations in response to a notable increase in the number of immigrants.
A recent shift in immigration laws has put hundreds of international students on Prince Edward Island in danger of being deported from Canada, which has prompted them to plan a demonstration to amend the immigration laws.
In the meantime, Prince Edward Island inhabitants disclosed the rationale behind the policy shift and the reasons why the smallest province in Canada opposes immigration.
Residence permits granted to foreign citizens
As hundreds of migrants arrive in the province, locals report difficulties finding housing, healthcare, and employment in Prince Edward Island. They also claim that migrants are abusing their opportunities, which has resulted in a 25% decrease in the number of residence permits granted to foreign nationals.
Reducing the number of foreign immigrants
A new strategy to lower the number of foreign immigrants applying for permanent residency through the provincial candidate program (PNP) has been announced by Prince Edward Island's premier.
Healthcare, childcare and construction
Instead of concentrating on services, food, and retail, the program will now prioritize healthcare, childcare, and construction.
Student visas
Despite its long history of welcoming immigration, Canadians are starting to turn against foreigners, especially young people who are in the country on student visas.
Fears of lost chances arise from the widespread belief among the locals that student visas are being abused as a means of obtaining citizenship and permanent residency.
Temporary residence visas
However, Canada declared that more Canadian families would be granted temporary resident visas in Gaza.
