To ensure safety and safe driving in rainy, dusty, and foggy conditions, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has issued guidelines.
These guidelines include checking the validity of the tires, brakes, and headlights; being cautious to check the glass cleaning fluid in the designated tank in the vehicle; being cautious to increase the safety distance between vehicles; making sure the vehicle's windows and mirrors are clean; making use of the spaces and external lighting for clarity of vision; being constantly aware of your speed; driving carefully so as not to exceed the speed limit; maintaining stability of the vehicle; adhering to traffic lights at all times; not starting quickly at the sight of a green light.
Other safety measures while driving
Apart from turning on headlights and allowing extra space for other vehicles to prevent accidents, using fog lights and regular lamps for the car, and not using four-way light signals unless absolutely necessary, you also need to be patient and allow extra time for your trip because rainy weather can cause traffic delays, cause drivers to slow down, avoid areas where rainwater collects, and drive cautiously on wet streets.
Do not stop on the road
In addition to not stopping on the road or close to the traffic line in order to avoid a collision with a vehicle approaching from behind, use caution when crossing intersections, as oils and water can combine to create extremely slick surfaces. Stay in the same lane when the tunnel is dimly lit or flooded, slow down when transferring between tracks, and stop safely away from the road with an alarm signal to alert other drivers.
