The government of the United Arab Emirates announced 3 residency options for foreign students wishing to reside in the country to study, and the Emirati digital government explained that students can reside whether the guarantor is one of their parents who officially resides in the Emirates, or with the guarantee of one of the accredited universities and colleges within the country.
The UAE government also provides a golden residency visa for outstanding students, as the duration of the golden residency visa for students in the UAE is up to 10 years, subject to renewal.
The visa is issued for one year
The digital government in the United Arab Emirates stated that the visa for foreign students in the Emirates is issued for one year, and explained that it can be renewed for another one year, after submitting official proof that the student continues to study, so that the proof is issued by one of the institutions of higher education in the country.
Sponsoring children up to the age of 25
The digital government explained that foreign residents of the United Arab Emirates can also sponsor their male children until they reach the age of 25 years.
Children over the age of 25 can reside after submitting written proof of their acceptance into a higher education institution in the UAE, while female children can obtain a student visa regardless of their age.
Requirements for obtaining a student visa in the UAE
The UAE Digital Government also announced the requirements for obtaining a student visa in the UAE, which are as follows:
- A certificate issued by the university or educational institution specifying the duration of study
- Any other requirements specified in the general provisions of the residence visa.
Foreign university students can bring their families
The digital government in the UAE noted that foreign university students can bring their families to reside with them in the UAE, but it stipulated that they have the financial ability to bring and reside for their families, while providing them with appropriate housing.
Golden residency for brilliant students
The UAE government grants brilliant students golden residency for a period of 5 years for high school students who obtain a grade of no less than 95% in a public or private high school without a guarantor.
However, it requires obtaining a recommendation from the Ministry of Education in the UAE, and the residence permit can be renewed for a similar period if the student is still registered in one of the universities in the country.
10-year residency for UAE university students
The state also grants outstanding UAE university students a 10-year residence visa without a guarantor, but according to a number of the following conditions:
- The university must be classified (A) or (B) according to the classification approved by the Ministry of Education.
- Submitting a letter of recommendation from the university or a graduation certificate stating that the student’s cumulative GPA is not less than 3.5 in A-rated universities or 3.8 in B-rated universities.
- Graduation must not have been more than two years old.
