In order to check that the international license for citizens and residents permits driving a vehicle lawfully and safely while going overseas, the Digital Government of the United Arab Emirates has defined five distinct ways and alternatives for applying for and getting an international driving license.
it urged people to use the "markhos" service on the Ministry of Interior's official website to see which nations allow them to drive a car with their national license and replace it with a local license if they decide to live there. The initiative also allows visitors to the UAE to drive a car with their license and replace it with an Emirati license if they decide to live there.
Obtaining an international driving licence
it continued by saying that visitors and travelers with an international driving license can drive automobiles in other nations lawfully and safely. If they are involved in an accident while driving abroad, their insurance may not be valid for coverage abroad without one, necessitating direct payment of accident-related costs.
Issuing a driving license in more than one language
it said that the International Driving License is issued in ten languages, including the six official languages of the UN, which are "English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, as well as German, Italian, Scandinavian languages, and Portuguese." It is valid for a year and can be renewed. It certifies that the holder has a valid driver's license in his home country and permits him to drive abroad.
The international license is available electronically
it clarified that the International License is available via any of the following methods: "electronically through the Emirates automobile and tourism club portal with delivery service, as well as branches of the Emirates automobile and Tourism Club in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and the western region, the offices of the roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Emirates Post Offices, dnata office on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the smart application of the Ministry of Interior (MoI UAE)" .
"Emirates ID card, passport and a valid residence permit, a copy of a valid driver's license issued by the UAE, and two personal photos" are the documents that need to be presented in order to receive an international license, according to the digital government.
