Dubai Police have recently taken five vehicles into custody after midnight on Wednesday, operated by juvenile drivers engaged in dangerous stunts in the Nad Al Sheba and Al Meydan Street neighborhoods.
Dubai Police Enforce Strict Measures Against Reckless Driving
The drivers not only created chaos, generating noise and disturbing residents but also posed a significant risk to other road users.
Penalties for Reckless Behavior
Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, emphasized that the release of these vehicles, which have been impounded for reckless driving endangering lives, property, and public safety, is contingent on the payment of a fine of up to Dh50,000. This rigorous action is in accordance with a recently implemented traffic regulation in Dubai that was launched in July of the present year. Under federal traffic laws, the duration of impoundment and the exact amount of the penalty are regulated.
Appeal for Safe Driving
Al Mazrouei urged young drivers to commit to safe driving practices and to refrain from committing major traffic offenses that put their lives and the lives of others at risk. Additionally, parents were strongly encouraged to pay more attention to and closely monitor the driving behavior of their children and adolescents.
Reinforcement of Traffic Regulations
Dubai Police reiterated that drivers caught engaging in reckless driving or violating traffic signals would face fines of up to Dh50,000 to have their impounded vehicles released. This enforcement is a clear signal that those who endanger lives or cause damage to road infrastructure will face severe penalties and vehicle impoundment for varying durations.
Public Involvement in Reporting Violations
The Dubai Police Department encouraged the public to actively participate in upholding road safety by reporting any violations through the 'Police Eye' service available on the Dubai Police app. Additionally, individuals can report violations by calling the 'We Are All Police' service at the emergency number 901. Public cooperation is vital in creating safer roadways and ensuring that violators face legal consequences for their actions.
Prioritizing Public Safety
Dubai Police's decisive actions against reckless driving underscore their commitment to prioritizing public safety on the roads. The combination of stringent fines, impoundment measures, and public involvement aims to create a safer environment for all road users.
