The chaos primarily involves children operating quad bikes in residential areas, prompting concerns about the safety of both the young riders and others on the roads.
Quad Bike Confiscations and Hefty Fines
The Dubai Police have not hesitated to confiscate quad bikes involved in these incidents. Families eager to reclaim their confiscated vehicles are faced with a substantial financial deterrent: a fine of AED50,000 ($13,600). This stern response underscores the gravity of the situation and aims to dissuade parents from allowing their children to engage in unsafe riding practices.

Authorities are sternly warning parents to keep a close eye on their kids at all times, but especially when they are riding motorbikes or recreational bikes on public and private roadways. The Director of the General Department of Traffic at the Dubai Police, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, stressed the gravity of the situation and the seriousness of the repercussions for parents who do not keep a close eye on their children.
Community Disturbance and Noise Complaints
This crackdown is a direct result of the many reports and complaints received from different parts of the emirate regarding the disorder and disturbance that motorcyclists, especially kids, produce. The youngsters were making a lot of noise and causing problems in residential areas, so civilian patrols were keeping a careful eye on them. Consequently, their motorcycles were taken away without delay.
Safety Concerns and Proper Usage of Recreational Bikes
Noting that recreational motorcycles are made for off-road riding in sandy places, Major General Al Mazrouei warned parents against buying them for their children. Riding them on public highways is dangerous for everyone on the road. He warned parents not to put their children in harm's way by letting them ride recreational motorcycles recklessly, saying that their children's safety should be their first priority.
Proactive Measures and Community Reporting
Dubai Police have implemented proactive measures to address the hazards posed by recreational motorcycle riding, including the seizure of motorcycles from individuals violating the law by using them on public roads. Major General Al Mazrouei encouraged community members to report any negative incidents through the "Police Eye" service on the Dubai Police App or by calling the "We Are All Police" hotline at 901. This collaborative effort aims to ensure road safety and curb the unsafe use of recreational bikes on city streets.
