As winter descends upon the region, the allure of the desert beckons, signaling the perfect time to pitch your tents in Dubai. On Friday, the Dubai Municipality (DM) announced the commencement of the temporary camping season in the Al Awir desert area.
Dubai Winter Camping Season
Running from Tuesday, October 17, until April 2024, this family-friendly campsite opens its doors to outdoor enthusiasts. The municipality has thoughtfully equipped the site with amenities and services, ensuring a convenient and comfortable experience for visitors.
Inclusivity and Spaces for All
To make this experience inclusive for everyone, specific areas have been reserved for people of determination and senior citizens. Additionally, business owners have been allocated several sites to offer goods and services to campers.
Register and reserve
It's essential to remember that campsite reservations are exclusively open to residents, and permits must be secured before setting up camp. Once permits have been issued, applicants have the freedom to configure their camping space with a temporary fence, catering to their family's preferences.
Furthermore, a designated location is available for government partners who wish to create their own unique camping experiences.
To register your winter camping requests, the Dubai Municipality has set up a dedicated platform at Dubai Municipality - Winter Camp Service.
Camping Arrangements
There is a choice between single and double tent sites at this campground. Single campsites have an area of 20 square meters, while double sites cover an area of 40 square meters. It is essential to take note that double camping is only allowed in natural settings like parks and forests.
Rules for a Safe and Enjoyable Experience
The Municipality of Dubai has implemented the following regulations for campers' and tourists' protection and to improve the camping experience as a whole:
