On Sunday morning, November 12, the annual Dubai Ride public cycling event will force the temporary closure of Dubai's famed Sheikh Zayed Road. The Dubai Fitness Challenge, which is currently underway, is complementary to this effort.
Alternative Routes and Traffic Impact
The closure of Sheikh Zayed Road would affect traffic along the thoroughfare between the Dubai Trade Center Tower Roundabout and the exit for Safa Park/Al Hadiqa Street.
Additional Closure on Financial Center Street
Motorists should also note that the lower deck of Financial Centre Street, situated between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, will be inaccessible during the event.
Navigating the Disruptions
In order to navigate these road closures, authorities have recommended alternative routes, primarily Al Wasl Street and Al Khail Road, which run parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road.
Dubai Ride Participants
For those participating in the Dubai Ride event, organizers have encouraged arriving at least 30 minutes before the designated start time. The cycling routes are designed with two options.
1. The Downtown Family Route
This family-friendly route covers prominent landmarks, including Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, passing by renowned sites such as Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera, and the iconic Burj Khalifa. It caters to cyclists of all ages and abilities, beginning at 7:30 AM and concluding by 8:15 AM.
2. The Sheikh Zayed Road Challenge (12 kilometers)
Sheikh Zayed Road has a more difficult course, ideal for more advanced bikers. The Museum of the Future, Al Satwa, the Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay, and Lower Financial Street are the five interchangeable departure places. Each participant is free to select their own preferred location of departure.
The Dubai Ride event not only promotes fitness and well-being but also showcases the city's commitment to creating opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.
