Temperatures in the United Arab Emirates are expected to drop, but dust continues to be a problem
While dusty conditions are expected to linger across the UAE on Saturday (May 18th), residents can take comfort in the prospect of slightly cooler temperatures, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
NCM announces weather forecasts for today
The NCM forecasts fair to partly cloudy skies for most of the country. The good news is that coastal areas, particularly in the western regions, will experience a welcome drop in temperature. Mountain regions can expect lows of 21°C (70°F), while coastal areas will see a slight dip to around 23°C (73°F).
Major Cities See Warm, But Slightly Improved Conditions
Major cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai will still experience warm weather, with highs reaching 39°C (102°F) and 38°C (100°F) respectively. However, this is a slight improvement compared to recent highs.
Wind and Wave Watch
Light to moderate winds are expected throughout the day, potentially picking up in the afternoon. These winds are likely to stir up dust and sand, so residents are advised to exercise caution, especially when driving.
The Arabian Gulf is forecast to become progressively rougher by evening, while the Oman Sea will experience slight to moderate waves.
Temporary Relief on the Way
While the dust might linger for now, this forecast suggests a temporary respite from the scorching temperatures that have gripped the UAE in recent weeks. Residents can expect a slightly cooler weekend, with the potential for more significant relief in the coming days
