During the Haj season this year, electric scooters will be permitted by Saudi Arabia. The goal of this initiative is to improve the pilgrims' experience by offering a transit option that is efficient, light, and safe.
Revolutionizing Pilgrimage Travel
Saudi Arabia is set to revolutionize the pilgrimage experience during this year's Haj season by introducing electric scooters as a mode of transportation for pilgrims. This initiative aims to significantly enhance the ease, safety, and efficiency of travel for those undertaking the sacred journey.
Designated paths have been specifically allocated for electric scooter usage, ensuring a seamless and organized flow of pilgrims. These paths include the Muzdalifah-MMina route, the pedestrian road leading to the Jamarat facility on both the west and east sides. Each path covers a distance of approximately 1.2 kilometers with a width of 25 meters, providing ample space for pilgrims to navigate safely.
The electric scooters, with a maximum speed of 15 kilometers per hour, offer a convenient and time-saving mode of transportation for pilgrims. Their ease of use and efficiency make them an ideal choice for navigating the Haj routes, contributing to an overall enhanced pilgrimage experience. This advanced transportation solution not only prioritizes safety but also ensures a swift and comfortable journey for pilgrims.
Efficient and Convenient Electric Scooters
In addition to the introduction of electric scooters, the Ministry of Health in the Madinah region has introduced the Smart Robot service near the Prophet's Mosque. This service aims to disseminate educational messages, guidance, and health instructions to pilgrims in over 96 languages from around the world. The Smart Robot serves as an innovative tool to promote safety and awareness among pilgrims, further enhancing their overall experience during the Haj season.
Furthermore, the Health Ministry branch in Madinah has deployed volunteer and awareness teams comprising 220 male and female volunteers. These teams, operating around the clock, provide essential health and emergency services to pilgrims at various locations, including the Prophet's Mosque and its access roads, Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Haramain Train Station, as well as mosques such as Quba, Khandaq, Sayyid Al-Shuhada, and Miqat Dhul-Hulaifah.
Through the combined efforts of introducing electric scooters for transportation, implementing the Smart Robot service, and deploying dedicated volunteer teams, Saudi Arabia is committed to ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of pilgrims undertaking the sacred Haj pilgrimage. These initiatives not only streamline the pilgrimage experience but also underscore the country's dedication to facilitating a memorable and spiritually enriching journey for all pilgrims.
