Saudi Arabia has found two more natural gas reserves in the vast Empty Quarter, according to statements made by the country's energy minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, There has been a major shift.
The Minister of Energy Announces Significant Discoveries
The Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) has discovered several major discoveries that will help the kingdom in its quest to find new energy sources.
Al-Hiran Natural Gas Field Discovery
The confirmation of the Al Hiran natural gas field's presence followed the successful flow of gas from the Hanifa reservoir in the Al Hiran 1 well. The flow exhibited a rate of 30 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) along with 1,600 barrels of condensate daily (BCPD). Additionally, gas was extracted from the Al Arab C reservoir in the same field at a rate of 3.1 MMSCFD.
Al Mahakik Natural Gas Field Unveiling
At the same time, Saudi Aramco verified that the Al Mahakik gas field had been found. The rate of gas flow from the Al Mahakik-2 well was 0.85 MMSCFD.
Gas Discoveries in Previously Known Fields
Beyond these new fields, natural gas was identified in five reservoirs within fields that were already known. Notably, the Jallah reservoir in the Usaikerak field in the Empty Quarter yielded a flow of 46 MMSCFD. Furthermore, an additional natural gas reservoir was discovered in the Shadoun field, west of Haradh, from the Unayzah There are approximately 460 BCPD in addition to a reservoir at a rate of 15.5 MMSCFD.
In the Mazalij field southwest of Dhahran, gas flowed from Unayzah B/C reservoirs at a rate of 14 MMSCFD, generating about 4,150 BCPD.
There were more finds, such as the Al Sarah reservoir in the Al Wadhihi field and the Al-Qusaibah reservoir in the Awtad field, both located southwest of Hofuf city. The former had a natural gas flow rate of 11.7 MMSCFD and the latter of 5.1 MMSCFD, with around 57 BCPD.
These findings signify a substantial boost to Saudi Arabia's natural gas reserves and further solidify its position as a key player in the global energy landscape.
