Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari revealed the strategy and identity of the General Authority of Media Regulation (GAMR), following the Council of Ministers' decision to reorganize the authority.
Leading the regional and international media scene
The GAMR's new strategy aims to position the Kingdom as a leader in the media sector regionally and globally. Additionally, as the Saudi Press Agency emphasizes, it focuses on increasing the sector's investment appeal and enhancing the effectiveness of Saudi media professionals.
Elevating Sector Contributions to GDP
A crucial aspect of the strategy is to significantly increase the media sector's contribution to the country's gross domestic product (GDP). The target is to reach SR47 billion by 2030. This ambitious goal aligns with the pivotal role of the media sector, which is seen as a source of abundant opportunities that can be harnessed to diversify the national economy and boost the non-oil GDP in Saudi Arabia.
Council of Ministers' Approval and GAMR's Expanded Role
The Council of Ministers approved the new regulations governing GAMR in September of this year. The authority now holds the responsibility for developing, regulating, and supervising the entire media sector. This encompasses supporting infrastructure, elevating both infrastructure and media content quality, and advancing the media economy's contribution to the GDP. This comprehensive approach contributes to positioning the media sector as a pioneer, aligned with the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.
Driving the Media Sector Towards Excellence
The GAMR's strategy and identity launch signify a commitment to fostering a media landscape that is not only pioneering but also accountable. The aim is to provide valuable, transparent, and reliable content, ensuring that the media sector aligns seamlessly with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030.
