Federal government posts would be prioritized to Emirati candidates who have worked for private sector enterprises for at least three years, the announcement made on Wednesday.
The UAE Cabinet declared, "Private sector experience will be added as one of the (requirements) when appointing an employee to the federal government."
The goal of this decision
The goal of the decision is to improve services provided by government departments by utilizing private sector expertise.
Emiratis have been encouraged by the UAE to work in the private sector. As the gap between the benefits provided by the public and private sectors closes, more Emiratis are choosing to work for private businesses. Laws also mandate that private companies raise the proportion of Emirati employees they employ annually.
Head of AI
In the meantime, the Chief Executive Officer for Artificial Intelligence (AI) position has been announced by the UAE Cabinet to be implemented across federal agencies and ministries. With its emphasis on strategic AI planning, advocacy of best practices, and promotion of AI integration and governance, the role is "pivotal" in establishing the UAE as a leader in AI applications.
Use of artificial intelligence technology
A thorough manual outlining the rules and regulations for the use of generative AI technology by the UAE government has also been approved by the Cabinet. The goal of the handbook is to standardize best practices for the morally sound, responsible, and secure deployment of AI in a number of important fields, such as media, healthcare, and education.
