The Ministry of Human Resources in the United Arab Emirates has set the main conditions for the classification of skilled workers for residents of the United Arab Emirates.
Due to the general misconception among many residents of the United Arab Emirates that it does not necessarily meet all the standards required according to the rules and regulations of work in the United Arab Emirates, skilled workers are classified according to the following:
Conditions for classifying skilled workers in the UAE
- The worker must be within the professional level, and is determined from 1 to 5 according to the skill of each worker.
- The worker must have a certificate higher than a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- It is also required that the witness be certified by one of the competent authorities.
- The worker’s salary must not be less than 4,000 UAE dirhams, this also excluding commission.
Skill level required in the UAE
Regarding the level of skill required for workers in the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Human Resources has identified nine employment levels, which are also the levels of the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO) issued by the International Labor Organization (ILO), and they are as follows:
- First level managers, legislators, and corporate managers.
- Professionals working in scientific, technical, and humanitarian domains are at Level 2.
- Level 3: Humanitarian, technical, and scientific technicians.
- At Level 4, Professional Writers.
- Level 5: Sales and Service Professions.
- Level Six: Experts in animal care, fishing, and agriculture.
- Seventh level: other craftsmen as well as those in mining and building.
- Operators of machinery and equipment at Level 8 and assemblers.
- Level 9: Supplementary occupations. This group, according to the International Labour Organization, comprises domestic workers and cleaners.
