The UAE government has warned residents of the UAE about the spread of fraudulent WhatsApp messages, carrying the message “Earn 800 UAE Dirhams Daily,” through Whatsapp groups.
Many UAE residents were shocked after they were automatically added to WhatsApp groups, after fraudsters were able to obtain their personal numbers.
Earn passive income
These messages carry an invitation from the administrators of the group via the WhatsApp application, and their content is as follows: “Welcome to the Youtube promotion group. We invite you to help YouTube bloggers improve their visibility and click-through rates during your free time, while generating passive income.”
Fraudsters have become more daring in searching for victims, and luring users within groups on WhatsApp to perform so-called online tasks, in order to express their likes on YouTube posts in order to earn additional income.
WhatsApp groups consist of 75 individuals
Reports published by Khaleeji Times indicate that the fraudulent WhatsApp groups consist of about 75 monkeys, and the area code ranges from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Egypt and the Emirates, and the group host generator is used as the mobile phone number +201687757150.
The group administrator then adds a message informing them of the potential earnings, as your tasks include liking, following, and commenting daily, with potential earnings ranging from 500 dirhams to 800 dirhams.
The group's producer also expressed regret for violating someone's right to privacy, stating: "Please accept my honest apology if this message causes any trouble. Otherwise, we hope for good collaboration.
Part time job scam
Still, the development of WhatsApp groups was simply the most recent variation of the part-time employment fraud revealed last week by Khaleej Times.
It began also with a naive WhatsApp message from an unidentified sender asking, "Are you interested in a part-time job?"This is a quite straightforward work. Each work pays from 10 to 400 dirhams; daily earnings could reach 2,000 dirhams.
One of the victims, a Dubai hotel owner who became victim of a hoax, lost her whole savings of roughly AED 66,000 instead of making extra money.
Sourced from the recruitment network
Residents who pointed out that the group was fraudulent were met with scammers who quickly deleted their comments and excluded them from the group.
"Everyone please exit this group and report it to Dubai Police," a person stated. Another questioned, "Should I add a police contact to this group so they can participate too?" She kicked the group out right away.
The host did, however, gently confront some of the "recruits," making a passive-aggressive remark: "I can understand your concern, you're not the first person to tell me that." Actually, the availability of these scammers makes it difficult for those of us who are truly advertising the company! (sic!). Users actually benefit!
Scammers on WhatsApp have long targeted job seekers and people looking to make additional money. The con artists stated, "We don't get any numbers from social media sites." The Employment Network created this set. So don't worry; we're following the law and causing no harm.
