This week, a child residing in the United Arab Emirates of Bangladeshi nationality died inside a locked car in Sharjah.
According to forensic investigation, the child remained inside the car for several hours, after which the driver assigned to pick him up and bring him from school found him dead.
The Consulate General in Bangladesh indicated in an official statement commenting on the incident that the child was a student at Ibn Sina School in Sharjah.
The driver was not licensed
It is worth noting that Sharjah Police confirmed that the driver was not licensed to transport students to schools, and was appointed by parents only to pick them up from school.
After the driver picked up the students from their homes, she stopped the car near the school door, and all the passengers got out except the boy.
The driver did not notice that the child remained inside the car, so she parked it in one of the places, and left with her husband in another car, and after returning to the students after the end of school hours, and after she opened the door of her car, she found the child dead inside the car.
The temperature inside the car reaches 60 degrees Celsius
According to what Sharjah Police announced, it is not clear how long the child remained locked inside the car, especially after the extreme temperatures in the country rose this week, reaching nearly 44 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures inside closed cars may reach 60 degrees Celsius while parked under direct sunlight, and experts have confirmed that leaving a child inside the car at the current temperatures could be fatal.
Sharjah Police warns
Sharjah Police warned parents against using unlicensed cars to transport their children to schools, stressing that licensed school buses are fully equipped to carry out these tasks, as school buses are equipped with all security and safety measures for children, adding that private drivers of school buses are periodically under surveillance.
Many parents resort to unlicensed car services, because they are cheap, but at the same time completely illegal.
