UAE announces important rules regarding the entry and residency visa system

Muhammed Farghaly - | Arab News

The Golden Visa categories have been enlarged, and new forms of entrance visas and residency permits have been issued.

The executive regulations of the Federal Decree-Law on Entry and Residence of Foreigners, which aim to enhance the UAE's reputation as a top place to live, work, and invest, have been approved by the UAE cabinet, which is led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The types and requirements of entrance visas and residency permits are covered in detail in the executive rules. The revised residency and admission requirements are intended to draw and keep talented laborers from around the globe, increase the flexibility and competitiveness of the labor market, and provide a strong sense of security for families and residents of the United Arab Emirates.

Golden Residence

The Golden Residence Scheme undergoes major changes to streamline qualifying and broaden beneficiary categories. Investors, entrepreneurs, remarkable talents, scientists and professionals, excellent students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, and first-line heroes receive this 10-year residency.

The modifications allow Golden Residence holders to sponsor the spouse and children of any age and support services (domestic) laborers without restriction. No maximum stay outside the UAE is required to maintain the Golden Residence valid.

Other privileges allow family members to continue in the UAE after the Golden Residence holder dies until the end of their permit.

Golden Residence for Scientists

The Emirates Scientists Council recommends this home to highly accomplished and influential scientists and researchers.

Candidates should have Ph.D.s or master's degrees in engineering, technology, biological sciences, and natural sciences from top universities. The candidate should have significant research.

Golden Residence for Pros

A major expansion in this category attracts highly skilled workers with educational qualifications and professional experience in medicine, sciences and engineering, IT, business and administration, education, law, culture, and social sciences.

The applicants must have a valid UAE employment contract and be classified in the first or second occupational level by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, which is aligned with the International Standard of Classification of Occupations ISCO by the International Labor Organization.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, and the monthly compensation must be at least thirty thousand dirhams.

Golden Home for Great Talents

Top talents in critical professions receive this housing. Talent alone determines its award, independent of degree, work, monthly wage, or professional level.

It comprises talented people in culture, art, sports, digital technology, inventors and innovators, and other key disciplines and requires federal or local government nomination or approval.

Realty Investors' Golden Residence

Golden Residence is available to real estate investors who buy AED2 million properties.

The new rules allow investors to get the Golden Residence when buying a home with a local bank loan. Golden Residence is available to investors who acquire one or more off-plan properties worth at least AED2 million from recognized local real estate businesses.

Golden Residence for Business Owners

The executive regulations make it easy for entrepreneurs to get the Golden Residence. To be eligible, an entrepreneur must own or be a partner in a startup that is registered in the country as a small or medium-sized business (SME) and makes at least AED1 million a year.

In this case, getting approval for a business idea from an approved business center, the Ministry of Economy, or the right local authorities is also enough to get the Golden Residence.

Also, the person will be eligible for Golden Residence if he or she was one of the owners of an earlier business project that sold for at least AED7 million. Projects or ideas need to be approved by the Ministry of Economy or the local government that is in charge.

Golden Visa for Students and Graduates Who Stand Out

This residence is for students who do very well in secondary schools in the UAE and graduates who did very well at universities in the UAE and at the best 100 universities in the world, based on certain criteria such as their cumulative average grade point average, the year they graduated, and the classification of their university.

New types of homes with benefits that can't be beat

New 5-year residence tracks are one of the biggest changes made to draw talents, skilled workers, freelancers, investors, and business owners. More perks are available to make it easier for family members to live in the country, and people can stay in the country for up to six months after their residence permit has been revoked or expired. The standards for all types of residence are also made easier to meet.

A green home for a skilled worker

A new path that lets skilled workers stay in the country for 5 years without a job or backer.

The people who want to apply should have a legal job contract and be in the first, second, or third work level, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.

Applicants must have at least a bachelor's degree or the equivalent, and the pay must be at least fifteen thousand dirhams.

Green Residence for Freelancing and Self-Employment

In line with the growing importance of flexible work models, this track lets freelancers and self-employed people live in the UAE for 5 years without needing a boss or support.

To get one, you need to get a freelance or self-employment permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization. You also need to have at least a bachelor's degree or specialized diploma, and you must have made at least AED360,000 a year from self-employment for the past two years or be able to show that you can afford to stay in the country.

Green Residence for Investor or Partner

This residence was created to encourage investment. It gives owners 5 years of residency when they start a business or take part in commercial activities. It takes the place of the old home, which was only good for two years.

Some of the requirements are getting permission to invest and showing proof that you have invested. The total amount of money the owner (partner) put in will be found if they have more than one license. Approval from the right local authorities is needed.

New Benefits for Family Members

Family members can get more out of the new method. A homeowner can easily bring their family, such as their spouse and children.

The age limit for children has been raised from 18 to 25 years old. There is no age limit for girls who are not married. No matter how old they are, children of determination are given a housing pass.

The person who has a Green Residence can bring in his first-degree relatives. These family members can stay for the same amount of time as the person who originally has the residence.

The New Way to Get Entry Visas

With the new method, people visiting the UAE can get different types of visas for different reasons. For the first time, new types of cards are made available that don't need a host or supporter. Some of the biggest changes are making it easier for people with all types of visas to enter the country and giving guests the freedom to choose how long their visas last based on their needs and the reason for their trip. All entry visas can be used for either one or multiple entries, can be extended for the same amount of time, and are good for 60 days from the date they were issued.

Entry Visa for Job Exploration

There is no need for a supporter or host for this visa, which was made to bring in young talented people and skilled workers to look for work in the country. It is given to people with the first, second, or third level of skills according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization. It is also given to recent graduates from the best 500 universities in the world. You must have at least a bachelor's degree or a similar degree.

Visa for Business Entry

Investors and business owners are encouraged to look into business and investment chances in the UAE by making it easy to get in without a backer or host.

Tourist Permit

A normal tourist visa that is supported by a tourism business in the UAE was made available, and now there is also a five-year multi-entry tourist visa.

The person doesn't need a host for this type, and they can stay in the country for up to 90 days straight. They can extend their stay for another 90 days, as long as they don't go over 180 days in a year.

For this visa, you need to show that you have had a bank amount of $4,000 or the equal in foreign currencies for the six months before you apply.

Permit to Enter to See Family or Friends

The new rule says that a tourist can get this entry pass if they are related to or friends with a UAE citizen or resident. It doesn't need a leader or a backer.

Permit to Enter for a Short-Term Work Mission

This type is for people who are on a temporary job task, like a probation test or a project-based mission, and their company is paying for it. It needs a short work contract or a letter from the company explaining the reason for the visit, along with proof that the person is healthy enough to work.

Permit to Enter for Training and Study

This type is for people who are taking training and study courses or taking part in internship programs. Universities, other approved educational or research institutions in the country, as well as government or private organizations, can support these people.

It needs a letter from the organization explaining the study, training, or job program in detail and how long it will last.

The rules for carrying out the Federal Decree-Law on Entry and Residence of Foreigners will start to apply ninety (90) days after it was published in the Official Gazette.
