A temporary traffic diversion is in place on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi; motorists are advised to investigate alternate routes such as Jumeirah Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road.
This diversion will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for three days, specifically from December 1 to 3, 2023. The initiative aligns with the celebration of the UAE's Union Day and the hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).
Comprehensive Traffic Plan:
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has created a thorough traffic strategy to ensure that traffic flows freely throughout the temporary diversion. The RTA has proposed a number of alternate routes, including Emirates Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Jumeirah Road, Al Wasl Road, and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road.
Public transportation is encouraged.
To minimize disruptions, the public is encouraged to utilize public transportation options for their commutes. Motorists are advised to stay informed about temporary traffic diversions and alternative routes through directional signage and updates on smart screens.
COP28 Event and RTA's Role:
COP28, scheduled from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City Dubai, prompted the RTA to establish transportation provisions. The Blue Zone will cater to official delegations, while the Green Zone is designated for business representatives and the public. Various transit modes, such as the Dubai Metro, Dubai Bus, and taxis, will be deployed to manage mobility and facilitate smooth traffic flow during the event.
Special Nol Cards for Delegates:
In line with facilitating COP28 delegates, special edition Nol cards have been introduced. These cards grant delegates free access to public transportation throughout the country during the conference.
Stay Informed:
As the temporary traffic diversion aligns with significant events, staying updated with the latest news and following directional signage is crucial for motorists to navigate efficiently during this period. The RTA aims to minimize inconvenience and optimize traffic management during this temporary rerouting initiative.
