Canceling a travel ban in the United Arab Emirates: How to do it online in five steps
The United Arab Emirates has enforced stricter rules on visas. Those with visitation visas are now required to purchase round-trip tickets on the same airline and carry Dh3,000 in cash.
UAE explains how to cancel the travel ban
A travel restriction may be imposed on a visitor or resident of the UAE who runs afoul of the law or has immigration-related problems. One may also experience this if they have fallen behind on their credit card or loan payments. If you believe that this would be a good idea, find out if there has been a travel ban.
If you do, you can use the following online method to lift your travel ban:
1. Go to the Ministry of Justice's website and sign in with UAE Pass. If you haven't registered with the website before, you might have to do so now.
2. Search for 'Cancellation Request of Travel Ban Order' after logging in. 'Case Management' is a tab that you will find there.
3. To view the cases against you, click 'My Cases' after selecting that option.
4. Each case's details are viewable, and you can "request" a cancellation on each one. At this point, you will need to fill out a form with your information.
5. Lastly, depending on your situation, you could have to pay.
More details
The Ministry of Justice states that processing this service could take up to five business days.
You could be asked to attach supporting documentation to your application in order to have the travel ban revoked.
New framework
A system that tracks all judicial enforcement decisions promptly and cancels them after the necessary payments are made is a first for the UAE and the region.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has implemented a new system that monitors the status of payments and reverses the first ruling once the respondent has finished paying. This is then sent to the appropriate authorities after receiving electronic approval.
Through the smart app, responders can download a copy of the cancellation decision in the event that travel bans are enforced for nonpayment. Then, if necessary, they might present the soft copy and continue with the trip formalities.
