Emirates Road (E611) at Sharjah's Al Budaiya Interchange will temporarily divert traffic beginning on Tuesday, May 28, and continuing through Thursday, May 30. Commuters heading from Sharjah towards Dubai should be aware that the right lane of the service road will be closed during this period, according to the map given by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI).
A temporary traffic diversion
In Sharjah, near the Al Budaiya Interchange, there will be a temporary traffic detour on Emirates Road (E611). Those going from Sharjah to Dubai will have to use the left lane of the service road from Tuesday (May 28) to Thursday (May 30).
This measure, as indicated by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) through a shared map, aims to facilitate necessary works or maintenance along the route during the specified period. It's imperative for motorists to heed the advisory and follow the directional signs provided, ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety during the diversion period.
New speed limit
Concurrently, the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah has implemented speed limit adjustments on two major roads, Al Ittihad and Al Wahda. Effective May 25, drivers are required to adhere to a reduced speed limit of 80 kmph instead of the previous 100 kmph. This decision follows the introduction of new speed signs reflecting the updated limit. The revised speed limits are part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and mitigate the risks associated with high-speed driving.
The initiative to reduce speed limits on Al Ittihad and Al Wahda roads aligns with similar measures implemented in November of the preceding year. At that time, authorities enforced a speed reduction exercise along the stretch between Sharjah and Al Garhoud Bridge, lowering the speed limit from 100 kmph to 80 kmph. This previous adjustment aimed to address safety concerns and promote a safer driving environment for commuters traveling along the route.
These measures underscore the commitment of relevant authorities to prioritize public safety and enhance transportation infrastructure. By proactively addressing traffic management and safety issues, authorities aim to ensure smoother traffic flow, reduce congestion, and minimize the risk of accidents or incidents on key road networks. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed about any updates or advisories issued by relevant authorities and to cooperate with traffic regulations for their safety and the safety of others on the road.
