In order to ensure the effectiveness of the response and provide the required support at the national and local levels, the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority placed a strong emphasis on increasing the level of preparedness and readiness of the national system to deal with the weather situation witnessed by the nation.
The necessity of activating business continuity plans and continuing to monitor and evaluate the weather situation and its effects on all regions of the country was emphasized through the holding of a series of meetings by the joint assessment team of atmospheric and tropical situations, which was chaired by the national emergency, crisis, and Disaster Management Authority, and included the participation of the Ministry of Interior, the National Center for Meteorology, and relevant government agencies.
Activating the distance learning system
The Ministry of Interior, working with the national emergency, crisis, and disaster management authority, recommended that all educational institutions activate the remote learning system for Thursday and Friday based on the predicted weather. However, this decision must be made by the federal authorities with the necessary authority, as well as the leaders of the emergency, crisis, and disaster management teams, each in their respective areas of expertise, in consultation with the Ministry of Education and the Emirates Foundation for school education, taking into account the situation's developments and effects.
Remote work policy
It was also suggested that on Thursday and Friday, all government agencies as well as the private sector implement a remote work policy, with the exception of critical positions requiring physical presence or those involved in response and recovery efforts from a disaster. This decision should be made by federal authorities as well as the heads of local, crisis, and emergency management teams, each of whom should act within their respective purview in light of the situation's evolving developments and implications.
In order to protect people's safety and lives, the Ministry of Interior, in conjunction with the emergency and crisis authority, has also decided to close all roads that lead to valleys, water catchments, and dams during the current weather situation. They have also called on the public to refrain from visiting mountainous, desert, and sea areas during this time, to follow all procedures that will be announced by official authorities, to obtain accurate information from official sources in the state, and to avoid spreading rumors and misinformation.
Moderate to heavy rain
The National Meteorological Center had earlier stated that the nation would see moderate to intense rainfall in sporadic locations between Wednesday and Thursday night, along with occasional lightning and thunder and the potential for tiny hail particles to fall.
Cloud cover will decrease on Friday and Saturday, and there is still a risk of light to moderate rain, with heavy rain possible in some areas in the south and east.
