The Dubai Court in the United Arab Emirates ordered that a woman of a European nationality be punished with imprisonment for a period of 3 months, in addition to her deportation from the Emirates, for assaulting a policeman by beating her.
The woman punched a police officer
The details of the case date back to when the woman assaulted the policeman with a punch while trying to arrest her drunken companion, and the incident dates back to January of this year 2024.
Details of the incident
Investigations indicated that the woman is of Ukrainian nationality, while the man, her husband, is of Russian nationality. The two were drunk, after leaving a dance club in Jumeirah Beach Residence, and while they were trying to return again, they were confronted by the security guards responsible for guarding the place.
The guards asked them to leave because their presence was considered a violation of the club's rules, and a police officer approached the place after noticing a commotion.
While he asked the couple to leave immediately and to comply with the instructions of the building guards and those who follow the club’s regulations, which prevent them from returning again after they leave the place while drunk.
Verbally assaulting a police officer
The police officer explained during the Public Prosecution’s investigations that the Russian man assaulted him with obscene words while leaving, and the police officer asked him to go to the police station to file a report on the incident, but the man tried to flee the scene.
While the man was being chased, the Ukrainian wife intervened, and the woman’s officer hit the officer in the face to prevent him from arresting her husband. This matter was also confirmed by the club’s security director, who confirmed during the investigation report that the police officer was verbally insulted by the man and assaulted by his Ukrainian wife.
The couple denied assaulting the police officer
While the couple was brought before the Dubai Court, the couple denied the charges of assaulting and insulting the police officer, and justified this by saying that the police officer had waived his rights in the case filed.
Ruling to deport the wife from the UAE
Despite the couple submitting documents indicating that the police officer waived his rights in the case, the court found the woman guilty and sentenced her to 3 months in prison, in addition to deporting her and her husband from the country after the end of the sentence.
