Colonel Saleh Mohammed Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police General Command, pinpointed sudden vehicle deviation as a primary catalyst for severe accidents resulting in casualties or injuries. He attributed such incidents to drivers' distractions from the road, emphasizing the peril of insufficient space between vehicles.
Al Dhanhani underscored the imperative of lane adherence and the proper use of traffic signals during lane changes to avert infractions and accidents. He noted that sudden vehicle deviation constitutes a traffic offense, incurring a hefty fine of 1,000 dirhams and four demerit points on the offender's license.
Captain Moza Al Darmaki, Director of the Traffic Awareness and Media Branch within Fujairah Police General Command's Traffic and Patrols Department, emphasized the escalation of initiatives aimed at cultivating traffic consciousness among drivers.
This involves a multifaceted approach encompassing awareness campaigns and measures designed to elucidate potential hazards leading to road mishaps and advocate for their avoidance. Al Darmaki stressed the pivotal role of traffic awareness initiatives in fostering a culture of safe driving practices on public thoroughfares.
Efforts to enhance traffic safety extend beyond punitive measures, focusing on proactive education and awareness-raising endeavors.
