The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Sharjah plans to improve its intercity bus services to handle the expected surge in passenger traffic during the Eid Al Adha festival, which begins on Saturday, June 15 and continues until Monday, June 18.
Enhanced bus services for Eid al-Adha
During the Eid Al Adha holiday from Saturday, June 15 to Monday, June 18, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Sharjah is set to enhance its inter-city bus services to accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger traffic. In response to the expected surge in demand, the RTA has announced the deployment of 121 buses, which will collectively undertake 4,800 journeys over the holiday period.
Increased frequency and availability
The intensified bus services will commence operations at 3:45 AM and continue until 12:30 AM, with buses running at ten-minute intervals during peak travel times to ensure efficient and timely transportation for passengers. This strategic increase in the frequency and availability of buses aims to mitigate congestion and provide smooth travel experiences for commuters during one of the busiest holiday seasons of the year.
Particular attention has been given to Route No. 203, which connects Sharjah and Oman. For this route, the first bus is scheduled to depart at 6:30 AM, with a second departure at 4:30 PM. This schedule adjustment ensures that travelers between Sharjah and Oman have reliable and convenient transportation options during the Eid al-Adha festivities.
The RTA's decision to bolster inter-city bus services reflects its commitment to accommodating the public's transportation needs during significant holidays. By expanding the number of buses and journeys, the RTA aims to provide a seamless travel experience for residents and visitors alike, reducing the stress and inconvenience that often accompany holiday travel.
Moreover, the extended operational hours from early morning to late night are designed to cater to the diverse schedules of passengers, ensuring that everyone can find suitable travel times that fit their plans. The increased frequency of bus services during peak hours is particularly crucial in managing the high volume of passengers and preventing delays.
The enhanced bus services provided by the RTA of Sharjah during the Eid Al-Adha holiday represent a proactive approach to managing the transportation demands of the public. By prioritizing efficiency and convenience, the RTA seeks to support the community in celebrating the holiday with minimal disruption to their travel plans. This initiative not only highlights the importance of effective public transportation systems but also demonstrates the RTA's dedication to serving the needs of its passengers during critical times.
